Michael Ball: 'No Liverpool players would get into Everton team'

Former Everton defender Michael Ball claims that he would take no Liverpool players into the current Toffees side.

Former Everton defender Michael Ball has claimed that no Liverpool players would get into the Toffees side on current form, ahead of this weekend's Merseyside derby.

The city rivals meet at Goodison Park on Sunday in the Premier League, with Everton fifth in the standings while Liverpool are ninth.

Ball is confident that Roberto Martinez's side can get one over on the Reds.

"I believe the Blues won't have a better chance of winning a derby so comfortably in a while," he wrote in the Liverpool Echo.

"There's not one Liverpool player I would want in the Everton lineup. Daniel Sturridge is back but how fit is he? Philippe Coutinho is their danger man but if we stop him and Sturridge then I think we'll be in a strong position."

Everton's last win over Liverpool was in October 2010.
