Mick McCarthy "delighted" with Ipswich Town response

Mick McCarthy hails his team's character after coming from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw at home to Bristol City.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has said that he was "delighted" with his side's response after they came from behind to rescue a late point at home to Bristol City in a 2-2 draw.

Two goals in quick succession from Luke Freeman and Jonathan Kodjia seemed to have give the visitors all three points, but Ryan Fraser netted late on to hand the Tractor Boys a share of the spoils.

"I thought we were the better team in the first half," McCarthy told the East Anglian Daily Times. "We started brilliantly second half and, having scored, the deflection is a real kick in the ging-gangs.

"Then their second - it's a good goal by them, but poor defending from us.

"I have to admire the response we had to get back in the game though. I was delighted with the way the lads kept going. We've had plenty of chances to win that game."

The point leaves Ipswich in seventh place in the Championship.
