Andre Gray double seals Burnley win against Huddersfield Town at Turf Moor

Sean Dyche's Burnley side remain in third in the Championship table, beating Huddersfield Town 2-1 at home with both goals coming from Andre Gray.

An Andre Gray brace has handed Burnley a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town at Turf Moor.

Town's Joel Lynch brought Gray down inside the area after being beaten for pace.

The striker stepped up to side-foot his 12th minute penalty past Terriers keeper Jed Steer for his seventh of the season.

Gray doubled his and Burnley's tally, making it eight for the Championship campaign, with two minutes remaining in the opening period.

The Burnley forward burst past Town captain Mark Hudson in the box before firing past Steer, the on-loan Aston Villa stopper.

Sam Vokes tested Steer early in the second half, powering an effort straight at the keeper from 25 yards out.

Nakhi Wells was introduced for Ishmael Miller after 60 minutes as Chris Powell attempted to get his side back in the tie.

The forward spurned Huddersfield's best chance of the game as he latched onto Jamie Paterson's floated pass but shot over the crossbar.

Martin Cranie then headed Paterson's free kick straight at Tom Heaton after 83 minutes.

There was a glimmer of hope for the Terriers as Burnley centre-back Michael Duff turned Kyle Dempsey's cross past his own keeper in the 89th minute, but it was too little too late for Powell's side.

Sean Dyche's side remain in third position in the table, while Huddersfield stay in 16th.
