Ronald Koeman: 'I might answer Swansea City call'

Former Ajax boss Ronald Koeman hints that he is interested in the prospect of becoming Swansea City's next manager.

Former Ajax and Benfica boss Ronald Koeman has hinted that he is interested in becoming Swansea City's next manager.

Reports emanating from the Netherlands over the weekend had suggested that the Dutchman had been in contact with the Welsh outfit over succeeding the recently departed Michael Laudrup.

Although the 50-year-old denies that there is an existing line of communication between him and City, Koeman - now at Feyenoord - admits he may be "ready" for the job should an offer materialise.

"I don't have any clarity that I will be a Premier League manager next season," he told De Telegraaf.

"These reports came out in a strange way. I agreed with my management that they will sort out which options I have. They just do their homework, that's all.

"If that will lead to something, I might be ready for it. But for now I will just wait and see what happens. At this stage, there's no contact with Swansea City."

Gary Monk has taken charge of the Swans since Laudrup's departure and led the club to a 3-0 victory over Cardiff City in the South Wales derby on Saturday.
