Karl Marginson pleased to have extra FC United training session

FC United of Manchester boss Karl Marginson suggests that he has been able to squeeze an extra training session in after his team's FA Cup game was moved to Monday night.

FC United of Manchester boss Karl Marginson has admitted that he is happy that his team's FA Cup first-round game against Chesterfield was moved to Monday, as his side could train more.

The Red Rebels' cup tie is the last of the weekend to be shown live on television and, while some supporters are not happy at the fixture change, Marginson has suggested that his squad could benefit.

He told The Telegraph: "I know for some of our fans it's a disappointment, but Monday night has given us an extra training session.

"It is a good thing for a club of relatively short existence to be in the first round for the second time, it's also at our new ground, it's great way to showcase what we stand for. So we want to do it as well as we can."

FC United could face neighbours Salford City in the second round after the Ammies stunned League Two Notts County on Friday.
