Everton boss Roberto Martinez unsure over Leighton Baines return

Everton boss Roberto Martinez admits that he is unsure how long Leighton Baines will be sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that he does not know how long Leighton Baines will be out of action with a hamstring injury.

The left-back pulled out of the England squad for the matches against Slovenia and Scotland after suffering the injury during training with the Three Lions.

However, Martinez is confident that the defender will return to action soon.

"Scans revealed Leighton has a grade one hamstring injury," he told BBC Sport. "Those injuries depend on the individual and how quickly they can heal.

"Leighton is responding well to treatment. It is too early to say how long he is going to be out but we remain very positive."
