Lake David Clarkson strike seals Dundee win

David Clarkson scores in stoppage time to send Dundee through at Aberdeen's expense in the Scottish Cup.

Dundee have progressed in the Scottish Cup after David Clarkson scored an injury-time winner in their fourth-round tie against Aberdeen this afternoon.

It did not take the hosts long to break the deadlock as Thomas Konrad headed in from a Gary Harkins free kick just four minutes into the tie.

Harkins tested the Aberdeen defence with another dangerous free kick a few minutes later as he tried to double the home side's lead, but Mark Reynolds was there to boot it clear.

The stop proved crucial as the visitors were back on level terms shortly after when Niall McGinn broke from the halfway line before sending in a low driven effort, which Konrad deflected into the back of his own net.

Aberdeen almost took the lead shortly before half time as Adam Rooney tried to beat Scott Bain with a header into the bottom of the net, but the Dundee keeper made a diving save.

Jonny Hayes tried to set up Rooney for another chance after the break, but the striker fired wide of the post, before David Goodwillie hit the side-netting.

It looked like the teams would be finishing level until James McPake charged forward in stoppage time, nodding the ball down for Clarkson to tap past Scott Brown.

Aberdeen had one more chance, but McGinn's half-volley was kept out by the crossbar, ending the visitors' run in the competition this season.
