Steve McClaren hails Derby County response in Huddersfield Town win

Derby boss Steve McClaren hails the Rams' resilience after responding to Saturday's loss to Brentford by beating Huddersfield Town.

Steve McClaren has paid tribute to his Derby County side after bouncing back from Saturday's defeat to Brentford by edging out Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.

The Rams secured a 3-2 win at Pride Park last night as goals from Jordan Ibe and Johnny Russell, either side of Harry Bunn's equaliser, gave Derby a slender half-time lead.

Simon Dawkins effectively secured the points on 77 minutes, before Mark Hudson bagged a stoppage-time consolation for the visitors.

"It was a good reaction after Saturday at Brentford," McClaren told Sky Sports News. "It was a difficult game for us, a dangerous game for us given the way they play.

"We expected an open game and that's what we got. There were chances at both ends and it never felt like the game was won."

County remain fourth in the Championship table, one point adrift of leaders Bournemouth.
