Ashley Cole urges Chelsea to move for Ben Chilwell

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole calls on the Blues to sign Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell.

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has said that he "would love to see" the Blues bring Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell to the club.

Having had their transfer suspension lifted, Frank Lampard's side are expected to be active when the winter transfer window opens at the start of next month.

Chilwell is believed to be a leading target for the London side with neither Marcos Alonso nor Emerson Palmieri holding down the left-back spot during the opening months of the 2019-20 campaign.

Cole, who made 338 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, has urged his former club to attempt to land the England international in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

"I would love to see him at Chelsea," Cole told talkSPORT. "He's doing really, really well at Leicester. He's enjoying the way Brendan [Rodgers] plays and his system; he's got that licence to attack.

"When he's played for England he's played well - in his last game he got three assists. He's shown quality not just on the ball, but one-on-one he can defend and he likes to defend.

"I think he's quality and I've heard he's a Chelsea fan, too, so I would like to see him here. Whether he would want to leave, or if Leicester would want to sell him, that's something the clubs would have to talk about."

Chilwell, who has a contract at the King Power Stadium until June 2024, has scored once and provided three assists in 13 Premier League appearances for the Foxes this term.
