Juan Mata and David Luiz are both rated "highly doubtful" for Chelsea's match against Swansea with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.

Chelsea duo Juan Mata and David Luiz have both been rated as "highly doubtful" for their clash with Swansea City on Saturday.

In-form Mata, who has scored seven goals in his last eight Blues appearances, is suffering with a hamstring strain, while Luiz has an ankle problem ahead of the trip to the Liberty Stadium.

The pair played the full 120 minutes of Chelsea's Carling Cup victory over Manchester United on Wednesday after also featuring in the controversial defeat against the same opponents just three days prior.

Should Luiz miss out, Cesar Azpilicueta could make his first Premier League start at right-back, with Bransilav Ivanovic shifting inside.

Daniel Sturridge and Victor Moses are in contention to replace Mata if required, with Frank Lampard and summer signing Marko Marin still sidelined.
