Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill: 'Belief is there, results needed'

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill insists that his players' belief remains but acknowledges that his side must begin to turn performances into points.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has insisted that his players' belief that they can succeed in the Championship remains but acknowledges that the team requires results.

The man in charge of the Robins, who sit in 23rd place after eight games, believes that his side have been playing well enough to pick up points but must turn those performances into something tangible.

"The belief that they have shown in games so far this season has been very good. Our football has been very good but we know that results are very important for us," the 51-year-old told the club's official website.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with their belief – it's just about getting the results that we need. They know they're doing the right things. Sometimes it can be the other end of the pitch that puts pressure on you conceding goals.

"If you take your chances, there's not so much pressure on the defenders. If the defenders don't make individual mistakes, it doesn't put the pressure on the strikers. It's about getting that happy medium and we're trying to do that all the time."

Cotterill's side take on fifth-placed Ipswich Town on Saturday.
