Gianni Bruno went close for the home side early on, but he saw his shot scrape just past the right post with the goalkeeper scrambling to make ground.

Nantes then replied as Vincent Bessat almost grabbed an opener with a headed effort which was saved in the top corner of goal.

Ilan Araujo wasted a great chance for Bastia to take the lead just before the break, as he lashed a tame effort straight at the keeper with the goal gaping.

In a tame end to the game, Fernando Aristeguieta had a go from distance, but again it wasn't good enough to trouble Bastia stopper Mickael Landreau.

The game's best chance perhaps fell to Bastia man Djibril Cisse, who summed up the general feeling of the encounter with a shot straight into the arms of the keeper.
