Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert feels that his team deserved a share of the spoils against Arsenal.

Paul Lambert has insisted that his Aston Villa side did not deserve to lose against Arsenal earlier today.

It looked as though the match was heading for a 1-1 draw until Arsenal attacker Santi Cazorla scored five minutes the time to seal the points for the home side.

Despite the fact that his team have now dropped into the relegation zone, Lambert is confident that they will survive in the Premier League if they replicate today's performance between now and the end of the season.

"I don't think we deserved to lose that. I thought we looked a threat all game. The ways the lads played, I couldn't fault them. If we keep playing like that we will [beat the drop]," he told BBC Sport.

Next up for Villa is a home encounter against champions Manchester City a week today.
