Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood turns attention to FA Cup

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood warns Midlands rivals West Brom that they will "have to improve" if they are to avoid being knocked out of the FA Cup this weekend.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has warned West Bromwich Albion that they will "have to improve" if they are to prevent his side from reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup this weekend.

Sherwood picked up his first win since succeeding Paul Lambert at the club with a late 2-1 victory over the Baggies on Tuesday night, and the Midlands rivals will do battle once again on Saturday in the last eight of the FA Cup.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss acknowledged that the win, which takes them out of the Premier League relegation zone, was "massive" for his side, but insists that his full focus is now on reaching Wembley.

"Now the Cup is the most important one as it's the next one and we want to get to Wembley. West Brom will have to improve to stop us getting there," Sherwood told reporters.

"I'm confident I'm telling them the right things to do but there is nothing like a win to cement things. Everyone can see we're improving and the result is massive for us."

Villa are looking to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 2010, when they lost to Chelsea.
