Arsenal midfielder Jorginho reveals that he is already eyeing up a return to Serie A at some point in the future.

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has revealed that he sees himself returning to Serie A in the future.

Between 2007 and 2018, Jorginho spent his time competing in Italian football, with the majority of it in the top flight with Hellas Verona or Napoli.

The decision was taken to make the £57m transfer to Chelsea, where he generally proved to be a success and won the Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

However, since making the switch to Arsenal at the beginning of 2023, there has been continuous speculation regarding his long-term future in England.

Although the 31-year-old has made a total of 30 appearances in all competitions, he has not always been regarded as a first-choice player.

Furthermore, Jorginho has just seven-and-a-half months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium and there is no certainty that he will be offered fresh terms.

In the short term, Mikel Arteta is reliant on Jorginho, a consequence of an injury to Thomas Partey and the Ghana international allegedly keen to secure an exit from the club.

Nevertheless, speaking to reporters while on international duty with Italy, Jorginho has admitted that he wants another stint in Serie A.

As quoted by The Mirror, Jorginho said: "I'm very much in doubt, I would like to return but I don't know when the right time would be.

"I want to return yes, but I don't know when, I feel I still have things to do at Arsenal. It always takes time when you change teams, but the first six months at Arsenal were not negative, on the contrary."

While Jorginho has not necessarily been linked with many specific clubs in Serie A, the likelihood is that there would be widespread interest if he becomes available.

In his five years with Napoli, Jorginho made 160 appearances and a return cannot be ruled out, nor can a reunion with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.

An option remains in place for Jorginho's contract at Arsenal to be extended by a further 12 months.
