Arsenal 'line up Jere Uronen as Nacho Monreal replacement'

Arsenal manager Unai Emery reportedly earmarks Finland international full-back Jere Uronen as a possible replacement for Nacho Monreal next summer.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Genk full-back Jere Uronen as a possible replacement for Nacho Monreal next summer.

The Gunners are understood to have stepped up their search for a new left-back amid concerns that Monreal will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Spaniard's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires next summer and talks over an extension have so far proved fruitless.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is now thought to have bumped the signing of a new full-back up to his top priority during the transfer window, with Genk's Uronen one of the players on his list of potential targets.

The 24-year-old Finland international is also out of contract next summer and so will be able to open talks with Arsenal in January.

Monreal is one of three first-team players who look likely to leave Arsenal on free transfers next summer, with Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck also due to be out of contract.
