Twitter reacts to wonder-save from Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale pulled off arguably the save of the season against Leicester City, an intervention which was deservedly praised on Twitter.

On the back of successive relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, it is fair to say that the majority of Arsenal supporters did not back the club signing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a fee in the region of £30m.

However, just before the half-time whistle at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, opinions changed forever.

With his team already winning 2-0 courtesy of goals from Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe, the 23-year-old pulled off arguably the save of the season to deny James Maddison.

A free kick from the Foxes playmaker was on its way into the corner of the net, Ramsdale a rank outsider to get across to his left to keep the ball out.

However, not only did Ramsdale get a hand to the ball, he had the strength and reflexes to tip it onto the underside of the crossbar.

Ramsdale then did enough to keep out Jonny Evans's effort on the rebound, the ball ricocheting off the post and the goalkeeper before being cleared off the line.

Club and goalkeeping legends from years gone by were quick to heap praise on the Englishman, who is still waiting to make his senior debut for his country.

Ramsdale went into the game having conceded just four goals during his opening six Premier League appearances for the Gunners.
