Ipswich Town are reportedly on the verge of signing central defender Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta BC.
The 26-year-old only arrived at Atalanta from Everton last summer, but he has found it difficult to secure action for the Italian club during the 2024-25 campaign, only making five appearances in all competitions.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding the defender's future in recent weeks, and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, an agreement has now been reached between Ipswich and Atalanta.
Romano claims that Godfrey will move to the Premier League club on loan for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.
Documents are allegedly 'now being exchanged', with a move on the verge of being confirmed.
Godfrey made 93 appearances for Everton during his time at Goodison Park, including 82 outings in the Premier League, while he also featured on 30 occasions for Norwich City in the top flight of English football.

Bournemouth defender Aarons 'heading for Lille'
Meanwhile, according to The Sun, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola is prepared to let Max Aarons leave the club, with Lille the favourites to secure the defender's signature during the winter market.
Aarons, 25, has only made three Premier League appearances for the Cherries this season, and he is expected to depart this month in search of regular action.
Lille are believed to be at the head of the queue for his signature, with the French club looking to beat a number of clubs to a deal for the defender, who could join former Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes in Ligue 1.
Aarons and Gomes played together for England Under-21s earlier in their respective careers and could now reunite in France.
Clubs from Spain and Italy are also believed to be keeping a close eye on Aarons' situation, with the defender unlikely to receive much action in the second half of the campaign at the Vitality Stadium unless the club suffer a long-term injury in one of the full-back positions.

Leeds 'open talks with Forest over Omobamidele'
Elsewhere, Leeds United are reportedly in talks with Nottingham Forest over a move for centre-back Andrew Omobamidele.
The 22-year-old has found it incredibly difficult to break into a strong Forest defence during the 2024-25 campaign, being restricted to just one appearance, and he has not played a single minute in the Premier League.
According to The Sun, Leeds are looking to strike a deal which could see the defender arrive on loan for the second half of the season, with a buy clause then being activated this summer.
The report claims that Leeds could pay as much as £10m, but there is competition from Sheffield United, with the Republic of Ireland international highly-rated by a number of Championship clubs.
Omobamidele made 55 appearances for Norwich before arriving Forest in the summer of 2023, and he has represented his current side on 11 occasions in England's top flight.
