Parma win six-goal thriller against 10-man AC Milan

Parma beat 10-man AC Milan 4-2 in their Serie A match at the San Siro.

Parma have beaten 10-man AC Milan 4-2 to earn their first Serie A victory at the San Siro since 1996.

Antonio Cassano had the first sight of goal for the visitors when he fired a low free kick into the side-netting.

With less than five minutes of the game played, Milan were reduced to 10 men, as Christian Abbiati received a straight red card for bringing down Ezequiel Schelotto inside the box.

Former Rossoneri player Cassano stepped up to take the spot kick and slotted it into the bottom corner, with replacement keeper Marco Amelia diving the wrong way.

Mario Balotelli came close to responding for Milan when a corner fell kindly to him inside the six-yard box, but he could only place an effort against the post.

Parma pressed for a second goal and Cassano put a shot narrowly wide from close range following a corner.

Three minutes before the break the visitors almost scored a second when Jonathan Biabiany's cross was diverted towards goal by Philippe Mexes, and Amelia reacted quickly to push the ball wide.

Six minutes into the second half Parma doubled their advantage. Cassano was picked out by Afriyie Acquah in acres of space, and he made no mistake in firing a low strike past Amelia and into the bottom corner.

Milan responded well to that setback and pulled a goal back five minutes later when Adil Rami met Kaka's corner to power in a header.

In the 76th minute Milan were awarded a penalty after Joel Obi brought down Riccardo Montolivo inside the box. Balotelli calmly slotted the spot kick into the bottom corner.

Parma regained the lead almost immediately, as Schelotto's low cross from the right was met by Amauri at the front post to flick the ball past Amelia.

The visitors scored a fourth deep into stoppage time when Biabiany headed in from close range to seal the win and move them up to fifth in the table.
