After holding serve in the opening game of the match, the American got straight into her opponent with a break to love, and although Scheepers finally picked up the pace with a hold she was quickly 4-1 down.
That became 5-1 after another Williams break, which allowed the top seed to wrap up the opening set with just 26 minutes on the clock.
Scheepers was broken again right at the start of the second set, but managed to avoid a bagel in the set by holding serve in the fifth. She had no answer overall, however, as Williams breezed into the third round in just 51 minutes.
