Garbine Muguruza stunned by Jana Cepelova in Wimbledon second round

Garbine Muguruza suffers a surprise straight-sets defeat to Jana Cepelova in the Wimbledon second round.

World number 124 Jana Cepelova has defeated second seed Garbine Muguruza to reach the third round at Wimbledon.

Muguruza had been tipped to win a second successive Major title after her French Open triumph earlier this month, but she was emphatically beaten by the qualifier, who ran out a 6-3 6-2 victor.

Last year's runner-up encountered problems during her first-round win over Camila Giorgi, and she struggled to time the ball during an opening set which saw her serve broken twice by the Slovakian player.

Aside from Wimbledon, Cepelova has not featured in the main draw of a Grand Slam since the 2014 US Open but she showed no nerves on the big occasion as she opened up a lead in the second.

Regardless of the scoreline, Muguruza always remained a threat, but Cepelova was able to seal victory in under an hour for one of the biggest wins of her career.
