Marin Cilic reflects on his "amazing" US Open last-four win over Roger Federer and envisions a "sensational day" for him and co-finalist Kei Nishikori on Monday.

Marin Cilic has hailed his "amazing" US Open semi-final win over Roger Federer on Saturday.

The Croat defied the odds to beat the number two seed 6-3 6-4 6-4 to move into his first Grand Slam final, with Kei Nishikori waiting.

Monday's showpiece will also represent Nishikori's first Slam final following his shock win over Novak Djokovic, and Cilic predicts a "sensational day" for the debutants.

"It's an amazing day for me. I feel amazing. To be able to play like this, I never dreamed of it. I think today was my best performance ever in my career," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I think it's going to be a sensational day for both of us. I'm extremely happy to be in the final for the first time. I'm just going to enjoy it, be happy and try to win."

The Flushing Medows final is scheduled to begin at around 10pm on Monday.
