Marcos Baghdatis has overcome Milos Raonic in a tense 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 7-6(3) second-round clash in the Shanghai Masters.
The Cypriot was forced to battle his way through the opening set after his Canadian opponent pushed him right to the wire in a tie-break, which Baghdatis was able to secure with some powerful serves.
The second set went the same way with both competitors matching each other on the court but it was Raonic who prevailed in the tie-break this time, snatching it 7-5 and drawing level on sets.
The third and final set was a tense affair as both continued to hold their respective serves but neither could find that vital break to grab the advantage.
After a tussle, a tie break was once again needed and it was Baghdatis who took control and edged the contest 7-3 to move into the third round after over two-and-a-half hours.
