British number one Heather Watson has failed to progress past the first round at the Korea Open in Seoul.
The 23-year-old, who did not manage to get further than the third round in this season's Grand Slams, suffered a 6-4 3-6 6-3 defeat to Elizaveta Kulichkova of Russia.
Watson went a set down after dropping serve, but she fought back to take the second set by breaking her opponent twice.
The Brit was unable to keep hold of the momentum though, as she was broken early in the third set before losing the match.
