Philipp Kohlschreiber sees off Tommy Robredo at Rome Masters

Philipp Kohlschreiber knocks out 16th seed Tommy Robredo in the second round of the Rome Masters.

Philipp Kohlschreiber knocked out 16th seed Tommy Robredo in the second round of the Rome Masters this evening.

In the first game Robredo managed to fend Kohlschreiber's pressure off but he couldn't do so for much longer and was broken in both of his next two service games.

The German, meanwhile, didn't offer a single break-back opportunity and won the first set 6-2 in a little over half an hour.

Kohlschreiber picked up where he left off in the second set by snapping Robredo's serve in the first game, but this time was pegged back by the Spaniard, who levelled the set at 3-3.

Robredo's resistance didn't last long though and Kohlschreiber restored the advantage before serving out the match 6-2 6-4.

Up next for the German is a daunting third-round match against second seed and two-time champion Novak Djokovic.
