Sara Errani books her spot in the next round of the Madrid Open with a 7-5 2-6 6-4 victory over Sorana Cirstea on Monday.

Sara Errani booked her spot in the next round of the Madrid Open with a 7-5 2-6 6-4 victory in her last-16 clash with Sorana Cirstea on Monday.

An incredible five breaks of serve occurred in the first set, although two breaks of serve apiece in the early stages left the scores level at 3-3. It was Errani who secured the final break at 5-5, however, before serving to claim the opening set.

Errani also broke in the opening game of the second set, but three successive breaks for Cirstea allowed the Romanian to serve her way back into the match.

Just the one break of serve arrived in the deciding set, however, with Errani taking charge at 4-4 before serving for the match after two hours and 21 minutes of tennis.
