Marin Cilic wins St Petersburg Open

Marin Cilic claims his first title of the year with a three-set victory over Janko Tipsarevic in St Petersburg.

Croatia's Marin Cilic has clinched the sixth title of his career by winning the St Petersburg Open in Russia earlier today.

The 23-year-old overcame the challenge of Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic in three sets.

World number 22 Cilic claimed the opening set 6-3, only for Tipsarevic to reply with a 6-3 success of his own.

However, Cilic held his nerve in the decider to lift the trophy with a 6-3 3-6 6-2 victory.

This afternoon's win is the first title Cilic has claimed in 2011.
