Tomas Berdych has booked his place in the third round of the Shanghai Masters by seeing off Feliciano Lopez 7-6(5) 6-2.
It was a tight contest in the opening exchanges, with both players holding serve and struggling to find a break on the court, which led to a crucial tie-break.
Despite some impressive points from Lopez, it was the number four seed Berdych, who was able to come out on top and take a one-set lead.
Lopez needed to respond in the second set, but Berdych was too much for him as he nabbed an early break and pushed on to wrap up the contest.
