Carla Suarez Navarro too strong for Petra Kvitova

Carla Suarez Navarro drops just five games in an impressive straight-sets win over Petra Kvitova in the Italian Open quarter-finals.

Carla Suarez Navarro has booked her place in the semi-finals of the Italian Open with an impressive triumph over Petra Kvitova.

Kvitova won last week's Madrid Open but she had no answer to the consistency of Suarez Navarro, who eased to a 6-3 6-2 victory.

The Spaniard, who had lost five of her previous nine meetings with Kvitova, looked the sharper of the pair in the opening set and two breaks of serve were enough for her to edge closer to the last four.

It was a similar story in the second as Suarez Navarro continued to pressurise Kvitova, and although the fourth seed remained competitive, she could do little to prevent her opponent breezing into the semi-finals.
