David Ferrer has admitted that he will have to fight for every point when he faces Rafael Nadal in today's French Open final.
Nadal is bidding to win the tournament for a record eighth time and has only ever been beaten once at Rolland Garros.
On top of that, Nadal has won their last 16 meetings on clay, and Ferrer knows that he faces a tough task.
"I know he is the favourite, but I am going to be focused every point," said Ferrer. "I will try to do my best.
"I am not thinking about Rafael, whether he's better than me or not. I will try to fight a lot and play a good match.
"It's very difficult to beat Rafael on all surfaces but on a clay court it is more difficult. I think I need to play my best tennis to beat him."
The final between the two Spaniards will take place at 2.10pm this afternoon.
