Dominic Inglot open to partnering Andy Murray at Davis Cup

Dominic Inglot admits that he would "love" to represent Great Britain alongside Andy Murray at this year's Davis Cup if given the nod by captain Leon Smith.

Dominic Inglot has admitted that he would jump at the opportunity to represent Great Britain at the Davis Cup this year.

The 28-year-old, who is currently ranked at number 45 in the world, linked up with Romanian partner Florin Mergea to produce a stunning upset by overcoming Mike and Bob Bryan at the Australian Open earlier today.

Inglot's performance may give GB captain Leon Smith a selection headache ahead of the Davis Cup tie against the United States in March, although the 2013 US Open doubles quarter-finalist admits that Jamie Murray remains the favourite to partner his brother Andy.

"I think you always want Andy in your team and if he wants to combine with Jamie... but you would have to ask Leon," he is quoted as saying by BT Sport. "If he calls me up, brilliant, I love representing Great Britain and it's a privilege. But if not you have Jamie or Colin Fleming."

Mergea and Inglot will now face sixth seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the quarter-finals in Melbourne.
