World number one Rafael Nadal cruises into round four of the 2014 Australian Open by beating Gael Monfils 6-1 6-2 6-3.

Rafael Nadal has cruised into round four of the 2014 Australian Open by beating Gael Monfils in straight sets.

The world number one took just 123 minutes to record a 6-1 6-2 6-3 victory over the 25th seed, setting up a clash with Japan's Kei Nishikori.

Nadal's serve was not broken once, although the Spaniard saved six break points.

Monfils hit 10 aces, but won only 10 of 30 points behind his second serve, as Nadal broke six times.

Nadal produced 21 winners and 18 unforced errors, while ultra-agressive Monfils made 33 winners and 57 unforced errors.
