Novak Djokovic plays down fitness concerns ahead of Australian Open

World number one Novak Djokovic insists that his recent illness is "all behind me" as he begins his quest for a fifth Australian Open title.

Top seed Novak Djokovic has declared himself fit for next week's Australian Open having overcome an illness scare.

The world number one had to push his pre-tournament press conference back by a day after being struck down by flu, although he insists that he is in good shape ahead of the first Grand Slam of the season.

"I had a tough couple of days but it's all behind me now. I'm ready for the Open," he is quoted as saying by BT Sport.

Djokovic will face will face Slovenian qualifier Aljaz Bedene in the first round on Tuesday, where he begins his quest to win the tournament for a fifth time.
