Scott Williams: National dual contracts "the way forward"

Wales and Scarlets centre Scott Williams believes that national dual contracts will become the norm in years to come.

Scarlets centre Scott Williams has made clear that he would "like to" secure a national dual contract with his region and the Welsh Rugby Union.

The 24-year-old, who has been capped 27 times for Wales, is hopeful that a similar deal can be struck to the ones signed by Sam Warburton, Dan Lydiate, Tyler Morgan, Hallam Amos, Rhodri Jones and Jake Ball before him.

Speaking to Scrum V, Williams said: "I've been offered a contract, but I'm under contract until next season as well so it's something that I'd like to do. I'm sure some stuff will pan out over the next couple of months or whatever."

"You'll see more boys getting on them, I think. I think it is the way forward, but I think they've got a little bit of work to do."

The creation of the dual contracts was part of a £60m deal which allows the WRU to hold control of players, releasing them for an agreed number of games for their regional side.
