England coach Stuart Lancaster has revealed that he is unsure of his future following his side's elimination from the Rugby World Cup.
The Red Rose became the first host nation to fail to reach the knockout stage of the competition as they fell to a 33-13 defeat to Australia at Twickenham.
Lancaster has admitted that, although he is upbeat about the future of the team, he is unsure whether his four-year tenure in charge of the side will be ended by the RFU.
"During the last three years we've put in some pretty good performances, but on the day Australia were better," Lancaster told BBC Sport. "And that's what World Cups are all about - on the day.
"But there are some good players in this squad and I hope the nation stays behind them. Will I be staying behind them as their coach? It's not for me to say. I've just got to get them ready for next week."
Lancaster is under contract in his role until 2020.
