Super League roundup: Wigan Warriors, St Helens big winners

Sports Mole rounds up Friday night's Super League action as Wigan Warriors and St Helens each record convincing wins to close the gap on leaders Leeds Rhinos.

St Helens and Wigan Warriors both won handsomely in the Super League tonight to keep in touch with leaders Leeds Rhinos.

Wigan ran in 11 unanswered tries as they thrashed Hull Kingston Rovers 60-0 at the DW Stadium, with Joe Burgess scoring a second straight hat-trick.

Two of Burgess's scores came in an opening 14 minutes in which Dominic Crosby, Liam Farrell and Joel Tomkins also crossed for the Warriors.

Dan Sarginson and Dom Manfredi touched down in between two George Williams efforts, while there was also a first Wigan try for Taulima Tautai as the host stormed to victory.

St Helens still lead their rivals by one point in the table following their 44-4 thrashing of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Lewis Charnock, Tom Makinson and Adam Swift each contributed two tries to a routine win which takes the Saints to within three of Leeds at the top of a table which is propped up by Wakefield.

The Wildcats are now five points adrift of their nearest rival after Hull FC launched a late comeback to beat Salford Red Devils 24-20.

Salford did not trail the match until Setaimata Sa went over for Hull on 72 minutes. Marc Sneyd had previously converted tries from Tom Lineham, Fetuli Talanoa and Mark Minichello to prevent Salford from getting away.
