Ben Westwood given one-game ban for punching

Warrington Wolves forward Ben Westwood is suspended for one match after punching Wigan Warriors' Blake Green during Saturday's Super League Grand Final.

Warrington Wolves forward Ben Westwood has been banned for one match after punching Wigan Warriors' Blake Green during Saturday's Super League Grand Final.

The suspension means that the 32-year-old will be available for England's World Cup opener against Australia on October 26. However, he will miss the team's pre-tournament friendly with Italy on October 19.

Westwood pleaded guilty to the offence when he faced a Rugby Football League disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday.

The incident took place during the first few minutes of the match at Old Trafford, which Wigan went on to win 30-16.
