Tony Smith: 'Stopping Kevin Brown could be key'

Tony Smith is confident that Warrington Wolves can overcome Widnes Vikings in order to climb up the Super League table.

Warrington Wolves boss Tony Smith believes that paying special attention to Widnes Vikings stand-off Kevin Brown could prove the key ingredient to claiming victory in this afternoon's clash.

The 30-year-old was in fine form when the sides met earlier this year, while he also stood out in the Vikings' 34-16 defeat at St Helen's last week.

Smith has spent time preparing his side for today's meeting at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, as they look to climb up to fourth place in the Super League table with a win.

"I've watched that Saints game three or four times and I thought Kevin Brown in particular was outstanding," he is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

"He's in a rich vein of form and I think he's as influential as any player in any team at the moment. He gets his hands on the ball often and comes up with some fantastic plays.

"We were on the receiving end of that last time we played him. He kicked us to death as well as passed us to death. Widnes were very, very good with the ball at Saints; they were outstanding. Fortunately for Saints, they were good enough to overcome them."

Widnes have failed to win on the road so far this season, losing all six of their away games to date.
