Terry Matterson "pleased" with players

USA coach Terry Matterson says that he is proud of his players despite losing to Scotland tonight.

USA coach Terry Matterson has said that his players "fought to the death" in their Rugby League World Cup defeat to Scotland tonight.

Despite having an 8-0 lead at half time, Matterson's team were outdone by the Bravehearts after the break and eventually lost 22-8.

"Scotland played very well, but our players fought to the death. I'm pleased with these guys," Matterson told reporters.

"I'm no less proud of them tonight despite the result."

Even with the defeat, the USA are safely into the knockout stages.
