Darrell Griffin lambasts 'embarrassing' Salford Red Devils display

Darrell Griffin admits to being "embarassed" by Salford Red Devils' display in their heavy defeat to league leaders Leeds Rhinos last week.

Salford Red Devils forward Darrell Griffin has vowed that he and his teammates will repay supporters following their heavy defeat to Leeds Rhinos.

The Super League leaders cruised to a 70-6 victory at Headingley on Friday night to end the visitors' hopes of claiming a place in the Super 8s.

Griffin is now eager for Salford to bounce back with a victory in their final regular league outing at Widnes Vikings this coming weekend.

"Friday night was very disappointing from the players' point of view," he is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News. "We were embarrassed by what we dished up.

"It was also disappointing because we had an opportunity to get towards the eight. But now we've got another opportunity on Sunday at Widnes because we know that if we win that game we can finish ninth."

Salford, who have won two of their last five matches, will now contest in the middle eight division.
