Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell thrilled by winning run

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell heaps praise on his team following their fifth consecutive win in Super League.

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has hailed his players after seeing them extend their winning run in Super League to five games with victory over Widnes Vikings.

The Tigers continued their dominant form on Sunday as they triumphed 34-20 at The Jungle.

Castleford remain in fifth position in the table, level on points with fourth-placed Huddersfield Giants.

"To have done what we've done is a massive credit to everybody concerned," Powell is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It always looked like it was going to be tough and we've won our last five games, which is awesome.

"When you looked at the last block (of fixtures) and you see Saints and Leeds in there, and Hull KR away, and you come out with them all, it's just fantastic.

"I'm really pleased for the whole club to back up last year and look good having rebuilt the team, and obviously the stadium news is another massive lift for everybody."

Castleford continue their Super League campaign on July 12 with a trip to Hull FC.
