Greg Dyke slams "totally unacceptable" Sepp Blatter comments

FA chairman Greg Dyke tells FIFA president Sepp Blatter that his comments suggesting allegations of corruption were inspired by racism were "totally unacceptable".

The chairman of the Football Association Greg Dyke has criticised FIFA president Sepp Blatter for suggesting that allegations of corruption in the governing body were racist.

FIFA has come under heavy criticism in recent weeks after fresh allegations of bribery surfaced regarding the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.

Blatter was dismissive of the claims, suggesting that they were born out of "discrimination and racism", comments with which Dyke made a point of disagreeing during a meeting between UEFA federations today.

"I said to him, 'I regard the comments you made yesterday about allegations in the British media in which you described them as racist as totally unacceptable,'" Dyke told reporters.

"The allegations being made are nothing to do with the racism, they are allegations about corruption."

Qatar beat out competition from South Korea, Australia and the United States to host the 2022 tournament.
