Jeff Shi: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers could sign eight new players'

Fosun International representative Jeff Shi says that Wolverhampton Wanderers could sign as many as eight new players before the end of the transfer window.

Fosun International representative Jeff Shi has suggested that he expects Wolverhampton Wanderers to announce a number of new signings before the start of the new Championship campaign.

Despite being linked with a number of potential transfers, Wolves have so far only strengthened their squad with the acquisition of goalkeeper Andy Lonergan, and their lack of depth has been evident during pre-season friendlies played earlier this month.

However, Shi has said that Wolves could make as many as eight new signings before the end of the transfer window after Fosun successfully completed a takeover of the club last week.

At a press conference attended by Sports Mole, Shi said: "I had a lot of talks with Kenny and Jez at the weekend about this. We have two weeks before the beginning of the season and then three to four weeks before the end of August.

"So we have two time windows. The plan before the beginning of the season is that we will have several players and start to play with a very solid first 11.

"After that we have the three or four weeks to try and strengthen further. In my mind, we will be adding five to eight players to the squad."

Shi has also indicated that Kenny Jackett will continue in his role as head coach, despite speculation suggesting that he would be replaced ahead of the new season.
