Steve Bruce has denied claims by Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Steve Morgan that he accepted the managerial job at the club.
Morgan had reportedly suggested that Bruce was offered the job in the Midlands, but the former Sunderland boss has strongly rejected the claims, insisting that he "didn't hear anything for a few days."
"Let me put the record straight. I had one interview and I thought it went particularly well. I didn't hear anything for a few days and then all of a sudden there was no dialogue. At one stage I thought it was close," Bruce told talkSPORT.
"They have obviously made their appointment and gone with Terry [Connor] and that is their prerogative. I was disappointed at the time because geographically I had just come back to the Midlands and Wolves is a fantastic club.
"They are having a tough time at this moment but I was relishing the challenge of it, if I had been offered it."
Wolves sit in 19th place in the Premier League table with ten games remaining.
