The EFL announces that it is satisfied that Wolverhampton Wanderers meet with its regulations regarding super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The EFL has announced that it is satisfied that Wolverhampton Wanderers have not broken any rules in regards to their transfer activity this season.

Earlier this year, the EFL received a number of complaints from clubs in the Championship who queried how Wolves were able to sign players from big European clubs and who had featured in the Champions League.

Super-agent Jorge Mendes has played a role in a number of transfers involving Wolves, and the West Midlands outfit were required to show that there were no issues regarding conflicts of interest.

However, after discussions were held with Wolves, the EFL has revealed that the matter had been closed after being provided with the necessary information required.

A statement read: "Following the commitment made in March, as a result of some concerns raised by a number of Championship clubs, the EFL has met with Wolverhampton Wanderers to ensure compliance with the requirements of its regulations.

"At that meeting, a request for information was made by the EFL and following a comprehensive review of the detail subsequently provided by the club, it has been determined that Mr Mendes holds no role at the club and, as such should not be categorised as a 'Relevant Person' as defined by league regulations.

"On this basis there is no requirement for him to submit to the owners' and directors' Test."

Wolves have acknowledged the statement, saying that the ruling should "extinguish any concerns held by other clubs" regarding their transfer activity.
