Roberto Martinez backs his players to perform in the remainder of the Premier League season.

Roberto Martinez has backed his players to perform in the remainder of the Premier League season.

Wigan Athletic are currently bottom of the Premier League and now face playing five of the top seven clubs in the last 10 games of the season.

"I do feel the lads are ready to play against the big teams," Martinez said.

"We drew against Liverpool and Chelsea earlier this season and played well at Old Trafford until a sending off.

"We can compete against anyone in this league. There are 30 points still available and, for every point now, there will be proper performances."

Wigan are two points from escaping the drop zone.
