Wigan Athletic midfielder Ben Watson has admitted that he is delighted with the end to a crazy year.

Watson recovered from a broken leg earlier in the season to score the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City yesterday.

He admits that it was a long road to recovery, but it was all made worthwhile with his side's unlikely victory.

"It was a long six months but I worked hard and was around some good people," said Watson.

"When we got to the final that was always my main aim, can I get fit for the final? I did that, worked hard. It definitely makes it sweeter.

"Breaking your leg and scoring the winner in the FA Cup final. It's crazy. I hope I never come down from this high."

Wigan still have two big game left in the Premier League and realistically need two wins to save themselves from relegation.
