New West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini will reportedly hand Andy Carroll the chance to prove himself during pre-season before making a decision on the striker's future.
The 29-year-old only managed three goals in 18 appearances for West Ham during the 2017-18 campaign, and the Englishman has just 12 months left to run on his contract at the London Stadium.
Carroll's temperament was called into question in the latter stages of the season amid a falling-out with David Moyes, which led to suggestions that the player could be moved on this summer.
However, it is understood that Carroll will be given a fresh start under Pellegrini, who has been confirmed as West Ham's new head coach on a three-year contract.
"Andy will be assessed when the new man comes in and then a view will be taken," The Sun quotes a club insider as saying.
Carroll missed a chunk of the 2017-18 season with an ankle problem.
