Slaven Bilic: 'I expected to be sacked'

Slaven Bilic admits that he was not surprised when he learned of his sacking by West Ham United on Monday morning.

Slaven Bilic has admitted that he was not surprised when he learned of his sacking by West Ham United.

A statement from the Hammers on Monday morning revealed that Bilic had been relieved of his duties at the London Stadium after a disappointing start to the 2017-18 campaign.

Indeed, a total of just nine points from 11 matches has left the London club down in 18th position in the Premier League table.

Bilic aired his views after leaving the club's training ground, with the Croatian claiming that his sacking was "a very logical move" in the circumstances.

"I expected it. There are no hard feelings. I can be very proud of my work here," Bilic told reporters.

"We didn't start this crucial season well. As in many clubs across Europe, the manager is the one who pays the price. It's a very logical move. The fans were brilliant to me from the start until the end."

Bilic, who was named head coach of West Ham in June 2015, is expected to be replaced by former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes on a contract until the end of the season.
