Carl Jenkinson has insisted that West Ham United are not prepared to let the season finish disappointingly ahead of Saturday's London derby with Queens Park Rangers.
Qualifying for the Europa League looked a possibility halfway through the campaign, but a run of just one victory in 11 Premier League games means that Sam Allardyce's side face a battle just to secure a top-half finish.
However, Jenkinson claims that the squad are not willing to offer any excuses as they look to get back to their best against relegation-threatened QPR.
"Of course QPR need every point they can get, but so do we," the defender told reporters. "We want to finish as high up the league table as possible, after the start we had we're not just going to accept a mid-table finish.
"QPR need the points, but we need to play our part 100%. Our dressing room is fired up.
"People aren't happy finishing mid table. We've got things to prove because we've been on a bad run recently and we want to put that right."
West Ham have not won an away game in the league since beating West Bromwich Albion in the first week of December.
